Missions

Mission: To be a church that loves God, His Word, His people, and His world

We carry out this mission when we:

Love God: We worship Christ alone, who loved us first. We love God above all others because He is not only our Creator, but also our Savior, who is worthy of all adoration, honor, praise, and glory; we demonstrate our love by public & private worship and by our obedience to His Word (see John 14:15, 23-24; 1 John 5:3)

Love God’s Word: We know Scripture to be the very Word of God, and believe it is important to read, know, cherish, and serve as the foundation of our worship and conduct; Scripture helps us develop our faith and comforts us in all circumstances (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 119:97; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Col. 3:16)

Love God’s People: When we accept Christ, we become part of one body, the Church, made up of believers from all nations and of all time, and we are to love, support, teach, and labor together; as believers, we are called to gather together locally that we may worship, grow, and serve together (1 Cor. 12:12-14; Eph. 4:1-6; 1 John 4:20-21)

Love God’s World: As Christians, we are given the task by Jesus to share the Gospel to all people, local and global, by word and deed that they may know the love and truth of Christ; even as the world rejects us and our Message, we continue to share the Gospel and demonstrate the love of Christ as we seek its welfare. (see Luke 6:27-36; Rom. 12:14-21; Gal. 6:10)

Oakhill’s Objectives are:

-Worship God through Scripture readings, songs, and prayers which are Christ-centered, biblical, and considerate of the needs of the church

-Biblical expository preaching which intends to point people further to the saving work of Christ by looking directly at Scripture

-Host events and programs which foster deeper fellowship, discipleship, and spiritual maturity

-Provide care for groups and individuals within the church body

-Servant leadership which humbly serves as under-shepherds and seeks to care for, protect, and lead God’s people

-Promote the marital and family unit as detailed in Scripture

-Demonstrate the importance and responsibility of evangelism and missions by equipping, encouraging, and participating in outreach

Church Passages:

Isaiah 61:3b (ESV), “that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified”

Jeremiah 17:7-8 (ESV):

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,

                   whose trust is the LORD.

He is like a tree planted by water,

that sends out its roots by the stream,

and does not fear when heat comes,

                   for its leaves remain green,

and is not anxious in the year of drought,

for it does not cease to bear fruit.” (ESV)
